In the fall of 1999 a corn field was purchased and the dream of growing fresh cut flowers and woody ornamentals for the consumer and the wholesale floral trade was started.

The first step was to clear the land from the corn stubble that was left after the corn harvest. I contacted my neighbor and he brought in a stalk-chopper to knock down the remainder of the stalks . Spring of 2000, the first beds were laid out for the annuals and perennials . That first year Celosia, Ageratum, Yarrows, Sunflowers, Liatris and Gomphrenna were the start of our mix. Today, some of these are still being grown here. As a grower with a floral design background , I wanted to grow flowers I, as a grower would want to design with in my arrangements.

I knew that flowers like Roses , Carnations and Chrysanthemums would not be all that feasible to grow here in central Illinois, because of our growing conditions.I wanted  to grow some of the different or unusal flowers that were uncommon in the local flower shops. That summer I discovered the ASCFG (  Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers  ) and went to the Mid-West conference in Wisconsin. I meet with fellow growers from the Mid-West and discovered that they had so much knowledge and information to pass on to newbies like myself. At this conference I was able to view the fields of cut flowers and woody ornmentals ie.. Winterberry, Bittersweet, Curly Willow, Dogwood to mention a few. After visiting, touring and chatting with fellow growers, I started to see my vision into becoming a reality.
